"who??"

My name is Bryce! My pronouns are he/him. I'm an international (non-transfer) student from Nashville, Tennessee. i'm one of your candidates for VUW council student representative.
my aim covers two main bases: representation and accessibility. i don't like the idea of running simply for the sake of 'padding out' a CV or wanting a position of power. i want to be the voice for you-- the any and all of you --and advocate for the things we need and want.

i want to be your every-person. while my moral compass is plenty fixed, my perspective is ever-changing and evolving. i want to know what you want, what you need, what you think, what you love, and what you hate.
"okay. but what about you?"
so glad you asked, kind stranger! i'm 19, to start, a first year double-majoring in political science and theatre. i'm gender-nonconforming and an open dyke, but i'm not too big a fan of labels. i'm autistic (my special interest is media consumption & analysis, if you were wondering) and i actually ended up here because i spent about a year-ish hyperfixated on aotearoa in media and māori culture. my biggest dream is to do musical theatre on an internationally recognized mainstage one day, or to get wealthy enough to spend the rest of my life doing public service side quests.
in terms of my beliefs, i'm mostly spiritual (think; ancestral veneration). in terms of politics i'm often labeled as a "radical socialist", but i don't like to limit myself to a spot on the hans eysenck alignment graph.

i think immigration and religious freedom is awesome, i'm vehemently anti-zionist, i think billionares shouldn't exist, and i try to limit my firsthand consumption of more frivilous goods. plus i'm in enthusiatic support of land-back movements and extreme limitation (+ public access revocation) of generative a.i.
"and what do you want for me?"
well to represent you, for one, but that's a bit obvious. but beyond just being a figurehead, i want to get to know everyone! equity cannot exist when you do not know the people you serve, what kind of representative would i be if i made up assumptions and went based off of weak stereotypes to assess what you may need?
Accessibility and financial stability are not one note issues. i want the university to not throw a blanket of "what-we-think-you-need" on top of what is an extremely personal issue. education exists today as a privilege, i'd like to help make steps to ensure that at v.u.w it's a right.
doing student council in high school as well as having the privilege to be apart of state-sponsored programs where I got to make shit happen in real time means i'm not a stranger to confronting issues head-on. in tandem, i'm not afraid of authority or confrontation and i want to be the voice for people who may have a harder time with those things. beyond the council i want everyone to know how open i am to friendship, new experiences, or just helping others. anything from improving accessibility from campus-to-campus to helping you with citations on a paper, i'm here for you!
